Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about hiring a lawyer and litigating in Karachi. Don't see yours? Ask us directly on WhatsApp.

Ask a Question
How do I choose the best law firm in Karachi for my case?
Look for advocates who actually try cases in the relevant court, are registered with the Sindh Bar Council, and give you direct access rather than routing you through juniors. GNS Law Associates is a litigation-focused firm in Clifton, Karachi, led by a High Court advocate, with a clear written fee agreement before any work begins and a free initial consultation.
How much does a lawyer cost in Karachi?
Fees vary by case type and complexity. We provide a clear, written fee agreement before any work begins, and the initial consultation is free with no obligation.
How do I get a succession certificate, and what is the NADRA process?
A petition is filed in the competent civil court with the death certificate, the deceased's cancelled CNIC, the heirs' CNICs, the NADRA Family Registration Certificate (FRC), and asset details. The court issues public notices, verifies the legal heirs, and then grants the certificate — usually within 2–3 months. We handle the entire process, including the NADRA formalities.
What is the NADRA succession certificate fee?
The government court fee is a percentage of the value of the movable assets involved, plus fixed NADRA and documentation charges. Because the amount depends on the estate value, we assess it after reviewing your documents and confirm the total before filing. Ask us for an estimate for your specific case.
What's the difference between a succession certificate and a letter of administration?
A succession certificate is granted for movable assets — bank accounts, savings, shares. A letter of administration is granted for immovable property — land, houses, flats — where there is no will. Many estates need both. We advise which applies and file accordingly.
Is a cheque bounce case under Section 489-F bailable?
An offence under Section 489-F PPC is bailable, and bail can be sought accordingly. The stronger objective is to resolve the underlying matter — recovery or defence — quickly. Our advocates handle both the criminal complaint and the recovery side.
Can overseas Pakistanis handle cases without travelling?
Yes. Through a Special Power of Attorney you can authorise an advocate to appear in court on your behalf. We regularly represent overseas clients in property, succession, and family matters entirely over WhatsApp and email.
Can I get bail on the same day in Karachi?
Both pre-arrest (anticipatory) and post-arrest bail are available. In urgent cases our advocates can file on an emergency basis before the duty magistrate or sessions judge. Contact us immediately on WhatsApp.
